League and Cup

A league and cup format tournament involves at least two stages. The league stage and the cup stage. Usually their are multiple small leagues (called groups) and the top few (usually two) qualify for the cup stage, where it follows a knock out phase to find the winner. A prime example is the UEFA Champion's League. An example of it being in a national league is the Primera Division Professional of Mexico.
