A player's 'nationality is what country (or countries) they descend from. A player's nationality affect which national team a player may play from (for example, an English player may only play for the England national team and no others). A player's nationality may effect player's eligibility for club football. In some countries, UK and Ireland is a prime example, a player who only has a non-EU nationality (a country that is not part of the European Union like Brazil) will require a work permit . In other countries, such as Spain, there is maximum amount of players the are non-EU. In Italy teams are only allowed one non-EU signing per year.
